FCC DRIVE AWAY HUNGER
Our school is participating in FCC Drive Away Hunger, which means we’ll be collecting donations of food and cash for people in our area who are hungry.
There are three ways your child can participate. If you can, please send food items to school with your child during from September 25 to October 2nd to support this program. You also have the option to send a monetary donation with your child to school using the collection envelopes available in the office.
For easy reference, here are the most needed food items (according to Food Banks Canada):
- pasta products and rice
- canned meats and fish
- dry and canned soups and stews
- canned fruits and vegetables
- flour
- breakfast cereal
- canned/powdered milk
- fruit juices
- pasta sauce
- beans and legumes
- infant formula and baby food

TERRY FOX RUN/WALK
On Friday, September 28th, we will be participating in the Terry Fox Walk/Run. Terry’s hope was to collect one dollar from every Canadian to support cancer research. Please feel free to bring a loonie or toonie to school and hand it in to your homeroom teacher. Donations will go to the Terry Fox Foundation.
ORANGE SHIRT DAY: Every Child Matters
PARKING
Early Childhood Services (ECS: Prekindergarten and Kindergarten) will continue to have Hand to Hand Drop-Offs through the front door and should use “Visitor Parking” or park on the road during peak hours.
Parents using the “Drop-Off” lane should encourage children to quickly exit out of the right hand side of the vehicle. While stopped, please place the vehicle in Park and consider using the Emergency Break if exiting the vehicle to assist a student in getting out of the vehicle
Please do not use the Staff Parking on the south and east sides of the school unless you need access to the Accessible Parking space.
RESPONSIBLE SMARTPHONE USE
Please check out this article by Pasi Sahlberg on strategies that we can use as parents and teachers to educate children on safe and responsible use of smartphones.
