School Council Newsletter
School Council is a group of staff and parents that work together to enhance and support the students learning experience. It is separate from but works with the ÉCVS fundraising society which raises funds for our school projects, currently working to pay for our playground. The next meeting date for School Council and the Fundraising Society is on January 20, 2020 and everyone is welcome to attend.
School Council met last Monday and here are some highlights from the meeting:
1. Upcoming Events and Activities
Here are some ideas for future events that School Council would like to host for the school community. These events can only take place if there are individuals that are interested in helping to plan and organize them. If anything below looks like a project that you would like to get involved in then please let us know. We currently have no one signed up for any of these events so they will not happen during this school year if there are no responses.
– Family movie night: Geared to families with elementary aged children
– Technology and families: an evening with helpful sessions and resources to help families as they incorporate technology into their families in a safe and healthy way.
– Digital Tools tutorial: An open house event where families can come if they have questions or would like to see tutorials on the digital tools that are used by the school. This might include information covering: Powerschool, Google Classroom and more.
Please let us know if you have any other ideas for events that you would like to see at our school.
2. Alternatives to swimming lessons for the 2019/2020 school year
Due to the Beaumont Aquafit pool closure our school will not be offering swimming lessons to students. We are looking for input from parents about possibly offering alternative physical activities for the grade 1-3 kids that would be affected. Ideas include skating or bringing in a dance class session. Please let us know if you have any ideas for activities.
3.Upcoming meetings
Everybody is welcome to join the School Council meetings, they take place at 7:30pm in the school music room. List of future School Council meeting dates:
January 20, 2020
March 16, 2020
May 25, 2020
ÉCVS fundraising society also hosts meetings that are open to everyone. They take place on the 3rd Monday of every month at 6:30pm in the school music room.
