Information on French Immersion from Alberta Education.

French Immersion (F.I.) is offered from Kindergarten to Grade 9 at Champs Vallée and from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in the Black Gold School system in Beaumont.  French Immersion students receive about 75- 80% of their instruction in French with English Language Arts instruction starting in Grade 3.  The goal of the program is for all students to become functionally fluent in French.

French Immersion is intended for all students.

Diversity-in-French-Immersion-Classrooms

A student or parent background in French is not required for entry into the program in Kindergarten or Grade 1.  Students entering French Immersion after Grade 1 must have the prerequisite of French Immersion or an equivalent knowledge/experience with French.
