    School Council News

Our next Virtual School Council meeting is coming up on November 16 at 7:30pm.

Click here for the meeting link.

Everybody is welcome to attend the meeting and I encourage you to invite friends who may not have been involved in the past.  Anyone can choose to engage and contribute or just log on as an observer.  There is no pressure to commit to any tasks or committees.

Highlights of the November 16th meeting:

    • We’ll have a look at the Black Gold 2021/2022 proposed school calendar.  Parents will be able to advise the school division on their preference for placing PD days, holidays etc.
    • We’ll hear from the principal and ÉCVS teachers rep about what has been happening in our school.

    Regards,

    Carrie Blumenthal,

    School Council Chair

    Scenario 2 Information

Yesterday, a letter was sent out from our Superintendent, Mr. Bill Romanchuk, to provide parents with some current information regarding COVID-19 planning in Black Gold. We would like to confirm for you that we are currently in Scenario 1, and there is no direction from AHS, the Government of Alberta, or Black Gold School Division to move our schools to Scenario 2 at this time. In the event that AHS and the Government of Alberta make the decision to move us to Scenario 2, all parents will be informed of the change in a timely manner.

    School Zone

Thank you for your assistance in using the designated drop-off and pick-up areas.

We are working with our community partners to look at school zone safety and the possibility of an additional crosswalk on the east side of the school.  The Beaumont RCMP and Peace Officers would like to encourage students and parents to use the marked crosswalks and intersections where it is safe to cross.

    November Break & Remembrance Day

The school will be closed from November 11-13 for Remembrance Day and a Midterm Break.

On November 10th, classes will be participating in Remembrance Day ceremonies in their respective classrooms.  Students will watch videos prepared by staff and classes within the school as well as videos and virtual presentations shared by the Department of National Defence Veterans’ Week Speakers Program and the Canadian Armed Forces.

    School Clothing

School clothing is available from the company below.  A portion of profits are donated back to the school.  Orders are usually delivered to the school.
