We have come to learn the critical importance of outdoor space this last year, not only in school settings but for community and private groups, as well.   Let’s work together in creating exactly that –  a sheltered, all season space to gather, learn, create and celebrate, available to everyone in the community! https://www2.rafflebox.ca/raffle/champsvalleefs

    CYF Caregiver Education May Newsletter

CYF Caregiver Education Newsletter – May 2021

See the link above for more information on topics, dates, times, and registration.

The AHS Children, Youth and Families – Addiction and Mental Health Caregiver Education Team is proud to offer free mental health programming for parents and caregivers of children and youth through our partnership with the Mental Health Foundation. In response to the global pandemic, our programming continues to be offered virtually at this time.

These 90 minute online sessions are intended to provide parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members with introductory information regarding mental health challenges that can affect children and youth. This month includes new online offerings including ‘Substance Use: A Harm Reduction Approach’ and ‘Junior-High Jitters: Transitioning to the Teenage Years’. Sessions are for an adult audience with the exception of our session on ‘Junior-High Jitters’ where youth are welcome to attend with their caregivers.

This month’s 60 minute lunchtime webinars look at ways caregivers can support their child or youth in the areas of executive functioning, ADHD, and depression. We will also explore parenting strategies for positive mental health.

In May, we will be continuing with our Mental Health and Resiliency series with sessions on calming our bodies and our minds, fostering resilient mindsets, and collaborative problem solving. We will also begin our 7-week SEEDS Growing Together parenting series where we look at foundational parenting strategies that can help address challenges and support healthy child development.
