    STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCH

    The staff at Champs Vallée were very appreciative of the lunch put on by parents.

    STAFF MEETING / EARLY DISMISSAL -JUNE 5th

    Students are dismissed at 2:30 PM this Wednesday.

     

    KINDERGARTEN

    The is no school for Kindergarten students on June 5, 6, and 7.

     

    TREASURE LIFE

    Treasure Life beads will be on sale in the Foyer during the elementary noon recess on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week.  Beads are 25¢ each.  Students in elementary classes will be provided with starter necklaces.  Jr. High students are welcome to buy the beads if interested.  The money raised will go towards the Evan Ty Jenkins Pediatric Research Foundation to support “Cardiac Kids” and their journey through research, education and stroke prevention.

    Last year, Champs Vallée families raised $825.25 with the recent Treasure Life bead sales at the school.

    BIKE AND SCOOTER SAFETY

    HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT BYLAW # 834-14

    SECTION 6: BICYCLES, SKATEBOARDS AND ROLLERBLADES

    Bicycles, Skateboards, Inline Skates, etc.:

    6.02. A bicycle may be operated on a Sidewalk where that Bicycle has a wheel base of less than fifty (50) centimetres and is operated by a minor.

    6.08. Every Person operating a Bicycle in accordance with the provisions of the Bylaw shall: a. If under the age of eighteen (18) years, wear a helmet.

    1. If under the age of eighteen (18) years, have a bell or other audible warning device equipped to alert others.
    2. Yield the right-of-way to Pedestrians.
    3. When passing a Pedestrian, use all due care, attention, and control required to ensure the safety of a Pedestrian.
    4. Give an audible signal before overtaking a Pedestrian, produced in a reasonable time, prior to the overtaking, by voice, bell or other warning device audible to the Pedestrian.

    6.09. No Person shall ride a Bicycle, roller skate, inline skate, skateboard or operate any other similar device, at any rate of speed that is unreasonable having regard to the nature, condition and use of the roadway or Sidewalk, and the amount and kind of Pedestrian traffic that is or might, reasonably be expected to be upon that roadway or Sidewalk.

    6.10. No Person under the age of eighteen (18) years shall ride a Bicycle, roller skate, inline skate, skateboard or operate any other similar device without wearing a helmet.

    6.12. Notwithstanding any penalty specified, any person who operates a Bicycle or skateboard within the Town, in contravention of any of the provisions of this Bylaw or any other Bylaw of the Town, or any statute of Alberta, may have the said Bicycle or skateboard impounded by, and at the discretion of, any Peace Officer for a period not exceeding sixty (60) days.
